Expanding or upgrading your electric dog fence kit is as simple as selecting one of our convenient pre-packaged installation kits. These premeasured kits include all the wire, splices, and training flags to cover 1/3 acre. Whether you're adding to the supplies included in your DIY dog fence kit to increase the installation coverage or upgrading to a higher quality wire, our installation kits package just the right amount of each supply so you can spend less time measuring and calculating and more time playing with your dog!
Electric dog fence kits come standard with enough wire, splices, and training flags to cover a simple 1/3 acre installation. Simple installations are those that basically make a loop around the property and don't include any internal exclusion area loops. If your planned installation requires more than 500 linear ft. of wire or more than two splice points, you'll need to purchase additional wire, splices, and flags to add to those included in the kit. Likewise, should you decide to upgrade to a higher quality wire than is included in your kit, you'll need to purchase enough pro-grade wire for your entire installation.
Wire, flags, and splices are all available individually in our online shop but we've made expanding or upgrading your kit easy by packaging wire, flags, and splices into handy 500 ft. prepacks - we've done the calculating so you don't have to. Our premeasured installation kits allow you to increase the size of your installation in cost-effective 1/3 acre increments.
Our installation kits can be purchased with factory grade 18 and 20-gauge wire or professional grade 12 and 14-gauge wire. Although technically you can mix two different gauges of wire and still have a working system, it's far better to use one gauge of wire throughout the system.
Tips for measuring installation supplies.
- Remember that twisted wire segments require 2 pieces of wire at least twice the length of thee finished twisted piece.
- For maximum effectiveness, training flags should be installed every 6 ft around the perimeter of your property and even closer on curves.
- Waterproof splices are required for each place where two wires are joined.
